Every colleague at My Jewellery has a unique story. About seizing opportunities, taking new steps and growing a little every day. Behind every sparkling result is a team full of power, where every contribution matters. Jack shares his story and shows how he makes a difference.

Safety affects everyone

“As Interim Security Manager, I’m responsible for the physical security of people and goods within My Warehouse. That means I work on a wide range of topics: from investigating missing items to staying in contact with suppliers and encouraging safe behaviour on the work floor.”

“Although I work independently, I’m in daily contact with almost every team in the warehouse. And that makes sense, because safety matters to everyone. That’s why I think it’s important to be visible and approachable. Not only when something happens, but also to involve colleagues in how we can keep improving the way we organise security.”

The why behind the rule

“Many people immediately think of rules, checks and extra work when they hear the word safety. To me, safety is about calm, clarity and trust. Good safety saves time, money and creates overview. That’s why I spend a lot of time explaining the why behind certain measures. When colleagues understand why something matters, support naturally follows. Security then doesn’t feel like something you have to do, but something that benefits all of us. That makes my work challenging, but also incredibly valuable.”

Awareness that makes a difference

“With more than forty years of experience in security, I’ve seen many different situations. But one thing has always stayed the same for me: helping people understand the importance of security. It gives me energy when someone starts looking at security differently after a conversation, when a colleague understands why a measure is necessary or when someone makes more conscious choices on the work floor. Those are real moments of impact for me. That’s when I know it doesn’t just stay with words, but actually changes behaviour.”

Stronger step by step

“I’m involved in several small and larger projects that contribute to a safe and future-proof organisation. What I really like about My Jewellery is that there is room to suggest improvements and that people are open to new insights. There is still a lot of potential when it comes to security awareness, and that gives me energy. It feels good to contribute to an organisation where security is becoming more and more part of the daily way of working.”

A compliment works too

“We move security forward together. By sharing knowledge, making risks discussable and helping each other improve. But also by taking a moment to recognise what is already going well. Giving someone a compliment when they act safely is just as important as speaking up when something can be improved. That balance creates trust. And when people become convinced of the value and necessity of security, that feels like a real win to me.”

“Security isn’t about the rule for me, but about the why behind it. When colleagues understand why security matters, we can truly make an impact together.”
