Creating impact every day
“As a CSR Specialist, I’m responsible for My Jewellery’s sustainability programme together with my colleague Denise. That means I work on a wide range of sustainability topics. From measuring and reducing our CO₂ emissions to mapping the environmental impact of our products and working with suppliers to make more sustainable choices.”
“We also take a critical look at materials and packaging and work on RE-CELEBRATE, our programme that brings together repair, take-back and upcycling. What I love most about my job is that no two days are the same. One day I’m diving into new legislation, the next I’m working on a sustainability project or exploring new ways to create impact.”
Positive change as motivation
“What gives me energy is that I’m always working on something positive. To me, sustainability isn’t about focusing on what’s wrong, but about improving, developing and looking ahead. Every day, we take steps to make My Jewellery more sustainable. Sometimes you work on a project for months before seeing results. That’s exactly why those moments are so special. You realise that all your efforts are paying off and that, as an organisation, we’re continuously moving forward. That’s incredibly rewarding.”
Stronger together
“Denise and I are a small team, but we complement each other perfectly. She focuses more on the social side of sustainability, while I focus on environmental impact. Together, we ensure that sustainability is approached from different perspectives.”
“One project I’m particularly proud of is mapping the CO₂ footprint of the entire organisation. We also carried out a Life Cycle Assessment for every product. Those are major milestones that required a lot of work, but they show how much impact you can make when you work towards a shared goal.”
Sustainability is a team effort
“Sustainability is something you do together. Not only within the CSR team, but with all colleagues across My Jewellery. We can only become a more sustainable company if everyone contributes. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned during my time at My Jewellery is how important collaboration is. Everyone is willing to help, think along and make time for each other. That open and positive atmosphere makes me feel truly at home here. Of course, I’m proud when a major project is successfully completed, but it means just as much when colleagues show interest and get involved. That’s when you realise sustainability isn’t something owned by one team, but by all of us.”
“What makes our collaboration so strong is that we can be honest with each other, celebrate successes together and keep challenging one another. We may be a small team, but that allows us to move quickly and achieve a lot. That makes my work both challenging and incredibly rewarding.”
