Every colleague at My Jewellery has a unique story. About seizing opportunities, taking new steps and growing a little every day. Behind every sparkling result is a team full of power, where every contribution matters. Menno shares his story and shows how he makes a difference.

Making processes smarter on the floor

“As a Process Engineer at My Warehouse, I’m responsible for the processes around outbound and returns. I’m also the point of contact for everything related to outbound. From the Process Improvement Team, I look at how we can make processes smarter, more efficient and better every day.”

“My day often starts with a daily briefing in the warehouse. We discuss how the operation is running, which issues need attention and where we need to adjust. After that, I work from the Jira board on projects, actions and priorities. But I also like to walk around the floor. Not everything can be improved from behind a screen. You need to see how processes work in practice. That’s often where the best improvements begin.”

Making impact where it matters

“What I love about my work is the combination of operations, systems, data, projects and, most of all, people. I’m in close contact with B2B and Retail about deliveries, issues and successes. That allows you to see directly where your work makes an impact.”

“A great example is the Bundling and Sorting project. With this project, jewellery for the Boutiques is delivered pre-sorted, so colleagues on the shop floor spend less time sorting everything out. That creates more calm in the stores and more time for customers. In the end, you want colleagues to stand on the shop floor with a smile every day. If a process contributes to that, it gives me so much energy.”

Proud of results and involvement

“Since I started at My Jewellery, I’ve seen great steps forward in the warehouse. Performance has improved, reliability has become stronger and returns are processed more smoothly and quickly. The GEEK system, our automated robot system in the warehouse, is also running better and better.”

“But for me, pride is not just about numbers. It’s mainly about achieving something together. From the Process Improvement Team to the colleagues on the floor: everyone plays a role. When people become involved, take steps forward and then see that an improvement truly works, that gives me a huge sense of satisfaction.”

Change starts with taking people along

“To me, ‘Let’s grow together’ means not only looking at what can be improved, but also at how you involve people in that improvement. Since I started, I’ve taken on more and more responsibility within outbound, returns and process improvement. I’ve learned how to switch between operations, systems and different teams, but also how important it is to work in a structured, project-based way and keep a clear overview.”

“My biggest development may be in how I look at change. I come from a tough, male-dominated environment where moving fast and pushing through was often the standard. At My Jewellery, I’ve learned that slowing down can sometimes bring you further. Change only really works when people understand why we do something and feel part of the improvement.”

A second family

“When do I feel at home at My Jewellery? When I walk in in the morning and see my second family sitting there. For me, it’s all about the people. The colleagues on the floor, the energy around us and the feeling that we’re all working towards the same goal.”

“The atmosphere in the team is engaged, energetic and human. We work hard, move fast and solve a lot. But there is also always room for humour, care and appreciation. Of course, we celebrate big successes, like projects that land well or targets that are achieved. But the small moments are just as important: a good day on the floor, an issue that gets solved quickly or a colleague taking a great step forward. Those are the moments that bring power and make people feel seen.”

“For me, the strength of a team is not only in going all in on big goals, but also in appreciating everything that goes well along the way.”
